Street View - England & Wales

Google Street View in the United Kingdom is now online. They've imaged most of the major cities in England, Wales & Scotland, including our own Bristol.

Google Streetview comes to Bristol

Via the Evening Post:

Bristol is being photograped by internet search engine Google so it can put street views of the city onto its maps.

A car bearing the Google logo and with a tripod camera on its roof has been spotted taking photographs of homes and businesses across Bristol.

Google Street View is a new online programme allowing users to see images of streets and homes, an extension of Google Earth which shows streets as aerial images.

Some fascinating moments have been caught by Street View's 360 degree panoramic pictures, such as this one:

Amusingly, one American couple has already sued for Invasion of Privacy.

APRIL 4--A Pittsburgh couple is suing Google for invasion of privacy, claiming that the web giant's popular "Street View" mapping feature has made a photo of their home available to online searchers. Aaron and Christine Boring accuse Google of an "intentional and/or grossly reckless invasion" of their seclusion and privacy since they live on a street that is "clearly marked with a 'Private Road' sign," according to a lawsuit the couple filed this week in Allegheny County's Court of Common Pleas.
